Lisa Woolfe - Book of Flight
A book inspired by Lars Von Trier’s documentary The Five Obstructions. Lars von Trier challenges his mentor Jorgen Leth to remake Leth's film The Perfect Human five times, each time with a different obstruction imposed by Von Trier. Using the raven as a motif, Woolfe sets herself a series of obstructions which force her to stay with the process until interesting results occur. Following this process, failure is a possibility, as is great discovery.
The resulting book is a modular sculptural object which can be configured in different ways to suite the reader's taste. The book includes an instruction sheet with possible configurations.
